July 24 2020
With the recent increase in COVID-19 cases across NSW, to help keep our community safe, Awabakal Medical Clinics will be switching to predominantly phone consultations commencing Monday 27th July until further notice.
If you already have an appointment, please stay at home unless you have been advised to present to the clinic. Appointments can still be made on 4907 8555. These appointments will be conducted via the phone and your doctor will determine if you require a face to face consultation.
If you have any symptoms of an upper respiratory infection you can now be tested for COVID-19. These symptoms may include, cough, sore throat runny nose and a fever. If you think you may have some of the above symptoms, please call Awabakal on 4907 8555 and request a test.
A Doctor will then call you back to assess your risk and decide if a home visit is appropriate, or if you need to be referred to a Fever Clinic.
A home visit for a COVID-19 test can be completed by one of our Aboriginal Health Workers. The test takes about 5-10minutes and consists of a swab up your nose and in the back of your throat. You will receive your results in 24-48hours with a phone call from Awabakal.
Please remember that It is still vitally important to follow the social distancing rules by maintaining a 1.5metre gap between yourself and others in public. Hand-washing and hygiene are our best defence, so ensure you are following the correct hand-washing technique and washing your hands with soap for at least 20 seconds.
And remember, stay at home as much as you can. Please try and limit any visits away from the home and only go out for essential needs like food and medical We thank you for your patience and understanding as we all navigate these challenging times.
