Awabakal’s Medical Service in Hamilton is also home to our Dental Services.

With Dentists, Dental Therapist and Dental Assistants, Awabakal is well-equipped to provide oral health services to our community in partnership with Hunter New England Local Health District.

Awabakal’s dental services are available to individuals of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent. Clients will also have to be an active patient of Awabakal’s Medical Services in order to be eligible for our dental and specialist services (Allied Health).

Unfortunately we do not offer treatment for braces but can offer advice on external referrals.

Our friendly, dedicated staff ensure that every effort is made to provide a relaxed and welcoming environment for the patients and their families.

Highest levels of infection control are maintained in the dental clinic. All instruments used in the surgeries are sterilised for each and every patient.

Billing and Fees

Most dental services are free of charge. Fees may be incurred for specialised dental services not covered by health care funding.

Tips to Care of Your Teeth

Eat Well

Enjoy a wide variety of nutritious foods, avoid snacking on sugary and sticky foods between meals.

Drink Well

Tap water is best drunk between meals and before bed. Avoid acidic or sugary drinks between meals.

Clean Well

Brush twice a day with fluoride toothpaste, especially before bed.

Play Well

Protect your teeth with a professionally fitted mouthguard or full-face helmet when playing sport.

Stay Well

Exercise regularly, avoid smoking, limit alcohol.
