Awabakal’s Medical Service is an Aboriginal community-controlled health service, which aims to deliver culturally appropriate primary health care services, advocacy and social and emotional support to Aboriginal people and their families in our community.

Our services include the treatment of acute illnesses, emergency care, management of chronic conditions, crisis intervention and referral, quitting tobacco support as well as a range of community programs and activities. We also offer a transport service.

All of our clinics are wheelchair accessible.

Opening Hours

Awabakal Medical Service is open Monday to Friday 8:30am-5pm, however our hours vary across our clinics. We are closed on weekends. Check with our medical reception team for specific opening times for each site.

We use an appointment system and we also have some appointments that can be booked on the day. The appointments fill up quickly, so please ring early.

Please remember that emergencies may arise or some consultations may take longer than expected. If you feel that your consultation will require longer than the normal 20 minutes, please inform the receptionist so this can be accommodated.

Bulk Billing

Awabakal Medical Service bulk bills as long as you have a valid Medicare card.

Generally, there are no out of pocket expenses for health services received at Awabakal, however should any fees occur, this will be discussed with you by our friendly staff.

Transport Service

Awabakal offers a convenient patient transfer service to and from appointments.

Who Can Use This Service

The service is available to aged care patients travelling to and from medical, dental or specialist appointments.

Booking in Advance

All bookings should be made 24 hours in advance, unless under special circumstances.

Fees & Location

Depending on your personal circumstances, there may be charges associated with the use of the client transport service. Any associated fee will be discussed with you at the time of booking.

You are encouraged to attend your closest Awabakal Clinic unless it's for a dental or specialist appointment.
